New Study Finds Antipsychotics Don’t Prevent but Actually Cause Psychosis

A study published in the July 2020 edition of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry found that antipsychotics don’t prevent psychosis but can actually cause psychosis.  In Australia as of December 2019 there were 1,270 deaths linked to antipsychotics in Australia’s drug regulatory agency’s on-line side effects database. CCHR has for a decade opposed the “pre-drugging” of our youth to prevent the onset of a psychiatric diagnosis. This latest study finds that giving antipsychotics to those who are supposedly at “Clinical High Risk (CHR) ” of psychosis  is potentially harmful and is not recommended for CHR individuals.
