Call to Ban Hospitals Using Physical Restraint on Kids

Henrietta Cook, State Political Reporter at The Age, 30 October 2013Boy with Stop Written on HandA mental health commissioner is urging the Napthine government to ban the use  of physical restraint on young children, with disturbing images showing a  nine-year-old boy with bruises and welts sustained at a Victorian hospital.

National Mental Health Commissioner Jackie Crowe said children as young as  seven were being physically restrained in acute mental health units to control  their behaviour.
